v According to Baumgarten, Ériu xxxiv 190 , the citations here belong to two separate verbs: 1 do-feid (< di-fed-) leads, escorts (from one point to another); leads to; brings about , for which see the examples under (a), (c) and (d), and 2 do-feid (< to-fed-) takes precedence over, for which see the examples under (b). Also do-feid brings, leads . In pret. and perf. this vb. is easily confused with do-foídi sends and do-feth (*to-feth-, *to-fo-eth); the 3 s. pret. dofaith, Hy. ii 39.47 is by Pedersen Vgl. Gr. ii 514 referred to *to-fo-eth-, but by editors of Thes. treated as a trans. vb. (reading dafáith , dafáid).
